FEATS Developmental Charts
F.E.A.T.S. is the Family-friendly Evaluation and Teaching System, a comprehensive system to empower parents to promote accurate tracking of skills and positive growth across six developmental domains. Below are six charts that we created based on 22 well-normed, peer-reviewed assessment instruments to provide families with realistic guidelines regarding typical developmental milestones from birth through kindergarten. During a formal evaluation of a child, evaluators conduct a parent interview, as well as a direct assessment of a child's development. Evaluators strive to understand your child's milestones, skills, preferences, strengths, and potential developmental lags/weaknesses, all within the context of important cultural considerations. You may wish to use the following developmental charts to help communicate with your child's evaluators. You may print any or all of the following developmental charts, and then check the boxes to indicate if the skill listed is Not yet mastered (N), Emerging (E), or Mastered (M). NOTE: These charts are simply offered as a tool that you may wish to use in communicating with the evaluators, but it is important to note that these charts are not necessary, these charts are not are not a formal evaluation tool, and these charts will not change the outcome of the evaluation process.
